Understanding LED Vocabulary

T10 is a wedge base, same as 194. Cobb means round with 8 LED chips. Go to EBay for the best prices, pictures, and you want warm white.

First three are bulb sizes, I think w5w is an Asian marking, my Subaru has some that size.

COB is most likely chip on board, so you have a flat aluminum or ceramic board with 8 led chips attached to it, all covered with a silicone phosphorus coating. Cob has become very popular lately, it eliminates expensive packaging around individual LED chips, and helps with cooling.

How do I know or can compare the amount of light produced and the amount of energy the LED or bulb uses?

This is the bulb I was looking at.

Buried in the fine print description they list 0.1 amps and 1 watt. Those numbers don't match up at 12v, so hard to say what the real value is.

They'll be brighter than the original bulbs you are replacing, by quite a bit.

I stand corrected on "cobb". No way would I pay $17 for a LED for a RV when you can buy one for less than $1 that will be plenty bright enough.

I was hoping that was some sort of error with the price.

$7 is a lot for a mass produced replacement lamp, even the cool looking ones.

When purchasing off of eBay I ask the vendor for a milliamp spec. They seem a bit loose with watts and lumens but I have had good luck yanking the ma value from them. 2.5 to 3.5 watts seems to be the max for cob emitters. Because of heat sink limitations. Haven't purchased cobs lately but many earlier ones had pretty yellow and blue hued chips. 5000 kelvin seems to be pure white. 4.5K might br pretty close to sunlight 3.75K duplicating an incandescent household light bulb and 3K to me reminds me of a Wal-Mart parking lot at night.

The big LED bugaboo is shedding the heat. I simply do not trust a cob vendor to supply a product of expected color. I purchase a few samples run them at 13.5 volts for a few days then decide if I want more. Chinese vendors on eBay seldom are manufacturers. They purchase lot quantities then from another manufacturer later on. Lin Zao Peng told me there are at least a hundred cob plants in Guangdon province alone. It might be worth a look on Amazon to find a vendor with a high stars rating and impressive sales stats. Product Reviews went through a scandal with paid reviews. Definitely an EnCaveat Emptor area.

To compare brightness you need the Lumens rating in the 200 to 350 range or about 2 to 3 watts. The bulbs listed are going to be less light. Also they are listed as having color of White so probably a little on the glarish side and possibly a bit blue tint. Probably want a Warm White to compare to incandescent.

OP, I have found the 5050 size chips run the coolest of any size. You can buy the disk type like in the above line for $3-4 on Ebay. If you cannot use the disk type then these 18 SMD 5050 warm white for $2 or less if you buy 10 is what I'd start with.
Warm white is the same as a color temp of 3000 =/-
Bright white is 7000+
Recently there is a daylight that's in the 5000 range that I'm starting to like... Using them in the kitchen at home.
