Uniden cordless Phone

We have an older Uniden cordless house phone. Lately and intermittently, I'll make a call and the person on the other end cannot hear me. Usually this is preceded by a "stutter" like a digital cut out of sound. It may take 3 or 4 tries to make a good connection.

It seems to happen a few times a month. I'm wondering if it's the batteries giving out... or is it a faulty connection through VoIP with Time Warner?

And, occasionally the screen light will stay on and the phone won't work at all. I've taken the battery out for one minute and it works fine when I put the battery back in.

I don't want to spend $$ on a battery if it's TWC related. Any ideas?

  • We just replaced the battery in our phone (not Uniden) and discovered that they should only be recharged 7 hours per day according to a sticker on the cradle. (or does it mean to charge for 7 hours before using it?) Ours had been resting in the cradle recharging almost 24/7 for a few years. Overcharging reduces the battery life (according to the Batteries Plus clerk). So now we recharge at night only.
I would check with Batteries Plus to see if the same recharging rules apply to the Uniden batteries.
  • 'Everyone' I know has problems with the uniden phones.

They batteries do NOT stay charged and eventually charging them doesn't work either. All of those people that bought another phone and/or battery found the SAME problems with the batteries and then just stopped buying unidens completely.

Solution: Cheap walmart cell phone, no contract, 45 bucks for unlimited everything/per mo, refillable card.
