- JiminDenverExplorer IIYou have NEVER seen better than 6 Mbps?
A lot has to do with which of the three Sprint LTE bands you are on but band 41 hits the mid 30s in Denver at 3 pm and 50's at night. It really only takes a few Mbps to give a comfortable feel to most things besides large downloads. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer III use the Unlimitedville Sprint unlimited data for about $50/month. It requires a business and a 2 year contract but I am OK with both of those. The speeds have not been very good with my best being 6MB up and down and an average speed of around 2-3MB up and down. I have hit a couple of 3G areas but speeds don't seem to change much. It looks to me as though they are throttling the 4g to 6MB max the same way Karma did for their offering (5MB, but same thing in my view). Unlimitedville wrote offering a $25 referral fee but I am not going to make a recommendation when it is clearly NOT unlimited SPEED or Sprint is lying about the speed there LTE service can provide.
- MrWizardModeratoryeah i wasn't happy when they raised it
every month i look at the bill, and wonder where the extra cost comes from
and then come on here , and go oh yeah!
OH WELL better than paying the same money for less data - Matt_ColieExplorer III had unlimited data with Verizon for years. At about 30$/mo, it was worth buying my own hardware to keep it. Then it went to 45$/mo. The family budget said no. So now I pay 45$/mo for 6gig and and that is only for road months (about 5) the rest will be 15$/mo for 1gig which works fine at home.
Matt - JiminDenverExplorer IIit wont take long to find out what the restrictions are. With every unlimited offering there are the ones that just have to stream day and night to see just how far they can push it. It took Cricket less than a week to start making changes to their terms to include possible throttling and language against unreasonable use.
Granfathered unlimited Verizon plans have a higher upfront cost but you would make it up in months with lower monthly fees.
T-mobile is doing the big push for subs and there are deals everywhere. You can pay much less for unlimited talk, text and data with the only limitation being how much data you can run through the hotspot. Since most of those plans include Binge on and stream on meaning Netflix, you tube, crackle and others don't count against your limits on data or hotspot, it's not as limiting as it sounds.
An example is my 4gas T-Mobile 5 gig hotspot with Binge on for less than $20 a month. I stream movie after movie and will never use up that 5 gigs. Loading forum pages do count and it takes a lot of those to use 5 gigs.
Last thing is do these plans include roaming. Most secondary sellers don't include it and it can be a issue when the carrier has a agreement for a large area. Much of the coverage in the mountains doesn't come from carrier owned towers. - wa8yxmExplorer IIII use an older T-Mobile plan, they do throttle..... If that is I ever use up all my data.. I keep getting messages telling me I have 20 Gigs in my Data Stash, plus 10 Gigs per month. LESS than 100/month.
Of course, even though T-mobile has done a decent job of improving their network recently.. Where I'm parked I still get unlmited NO SERVICE.
Thankfully the park provides free Wi-Fi and the phone does VoIP just fine. - greenrvgreenExplorerI agree. Especially seeing this is at 4g speeds.
Even at 3g speeds it's possible to download well over 100gb a month. Half a terrabyte would seem reasonable here and well beyond any wholesale agreement done with VZ. Don't see how it can last without throttling. - mlts22ExplorerWonder how long this will last until they start throttling. Seems like every six months, a new "unlimited" provider comes along, then dumps a lot of restrictions after a month or two.
- strollinExplorerPretty darn expensive compared to the $23.99/month I pay for my grandfathered unlimited data plan on Verizon.
- darsbenExplorer IIT-mobile in the east is good.
Out west there are big gaps in coverage. I use T-mobile anyway cause I am not tied to the darn internet
