Uploading from Garmin Base Map

I recently downloaded Garmin Base Map to use with my Nuvi 2555. After some trial and error I figured out the rudiments of planning a trip. So far, so good. But when I tried to send the trip to the 2555 it didn't appear to be performing the function. When I disconnected the unit from the laptop and tried to find the transferred trip I couldn't find anything. Any ideas on why it didn't transfer or where it may be stored if it did transfer? TIA

  • Thanks, Bull Rider, I think that's one place I hadn't looked for it. I decided not to get a separate maps download and just use the maps on the GPS instead. The mapping seems to work OK, I just couldn't find the transfer.

I'll look into the TYRE software; sounds like a good alternative.

If neither of those work I'll try contacting Garmin. Thanks to all for the responses.
  • I have used Basecamp. If you want an easier way to plan routes and upload them to the Garmin try TYRE - free routing software that works with Google maps and then uploads all of the waypoints you put into your route into the Garmin. Much easier than Basecamp.

  • I have a Garmin NUVI and I use Base Camp frequently. If you can see that Base Camp recognizes your device on the left side of the screen, and you can see the GPS in the "Send To" option then it should make the transfer.

The route that you have uploaded will show up in the App menu on the GPS. I don't have my GPS close by, but it will be under Trip Planner if I recall correctly.

Have you downloaded the full map files for Base Camp? Without doing that Base Camp isn't of much use.
