I suspect this will get a lot of "maybe" answers, but what the heck. Maybe one of you have tried this.
My 2013 Silverado has the bare bones AM/FM/CD/MP3 radio. No usb input, but it does have the 3.5mm "aux input" receptacle for an ipod or the like.
I know there are usb to 3.5mm plug adapters available, but would my radio recognize mp3 files on a usb stick if I stuck it into the radio using such an adapter??? :@
A lot of nay sayers out there, not sure why??
I have a USB to 3.5mm adapter, and it worked just fine in my older radio. It had a tiny screen, some buttons, a USB port, a 3.5mm port with a short cable and goes in the lighter socket. It also has an SD card slot.
All it was really is a tiny MP3 player - the car radio itself did nothing but playback the music.
If you want more control, capacity, etc, look at a refurb IPOD - buy it from Apple so you don't get scam'd.
