I recommend a prepaid Android based smartphone. Target has 3 on sale this week at $20/$50/$100. No need to activate it as a cell phone, but they work well as easy to use ipod touch competitors.

You CAN by regular MP3 PLAYERS with touch screens for $20-$50..
You can buy Android based tablets with 7" touch screens for for $30..
But in reality buying over fancy gadgetry just to play a simple MP3 MUSIC FILE is over the top silly at best..
Phones, touch screen players, and tablets add layers of difficulty in navigating and playing simple music files..
Think simple, a simple MP3 player with play, skip and off in most cases will suffice.. Some with screens to see what file is playing may work but the screens are often small and may be hard to read.
THE BEST WAY is to replace the indash unit with one that has a purpose made USB interface built in.. This way you can navigate your music easily..
I used to use all kinds of ways to get my music, tried external $100 CD players back when CDs took off and indash CD units cost $350 and up.. Had power wires, aux input wires hanging all over the place.. Not to mention having to turn the CD on/off..
Then MP3 players came out, ditched the external CD player for battery powered MP3 players, nice that 256mg player gave me 2hrs of music but what a hassle..
Now I have an indash unit with USB connection and I plug in a 8gig flash drive and have 80 hrs worth of music that I can control from my steering wheel.. PRICELESS. Beats the pants off a bunch of wires or even dealing with blue tooth pairing issues..
