My advice is do an A/B test on each input channel: A-your setup, B-direct (as possible) to the monitor. Each splitter will introduce signal loss (and a cheap splitter will actually truncate the signal).
As said, you are not likely to be watching sat and cable on the same day, let alone at the same time (channel surfing). For best signal, you just might be channel surfing between sat and OTA--but really, how about a simple switch? Personally I just unplug things and move wires.
