For my education, why would someone want to use Skype on a cell phone since all calls should be free unless calling from overseas?......................................

You can also use Skype to call overseas or Canada, or Mexico. If you don't call another Skype number, calling an overseas number will cost you a few cents per minute. I use it to call Mexico and Canada all the time. Calling England will cost you 2.3 cents a minute - lgarciaExplorerI have found that using Facebook video call works better on my Droid Verizon phone than using Skype.

On most plans calls are unlimited vs. data being limited.

I travel to various locations instructing students how to use vintage machines. I am well versed in their use but if I get stuck on a issue I know who to contact for help (a live video of the problem is much better than a picture).
If the student has a problem after I leave, again a live video explains more than a photo and more than a YouTube video - aka helping in real time is better. - 2oldmanExplorer IIIt's of interest to many.

I take it you have a really old cell phone...?
Yes, have never used video, never thought about it on a cell phone.
A Samsung Note 4 - I use it for a lot of things, but video calls have just never been of interest. I sort of think of them like I do Facebook, taking a nap in the shade is of higher importance.......
Bill - Dutch_12078Explorer IIIWe make a lot of our phone calls using our PhonePower VOIP service app when we're connected to a free WiFi service. No data or minutes usage at all in that case...
