Vehicle GPS's

I have used Streets and Trips from the first year it was produced. But, now that S&T are not being updated I have decided to purchase a gps made for vehicles. My question - What vehicle GPS is best for Trip Planning. Do any of them compare with S&T's trip planning capabilities. Do Vehicle GPS's have a campground searcher.
  • I used to plan/plot out my trips on a computer and down load them to my Garmin. much easier than messing around on a 7 inch screen.

  • Thanks Golden I have the small GPS silver dollar antenna that I used with Streets and Trips. I was thinking tho of purchasing a dash mounted GPS designed for vehicles. I was wondering if any of them have a trip planning mode.
  • I always used my Delorme software to plan trips in the laptop. You can use that as a GPS system (with a 15" screen too) using a GPS receiver that plugs into the USB port.

With DeLorme you can plan a route, then click on 'elevations' and it will give you a profile of the trip, how many grades you will take, what the steepest section will be, and give elevations at various points long the route!

    Good luck,

    Fred.
