Verizon Home Connection - Internet

Saw recently that Verizon is offering internet service with the Home Connection service. Looks like for an extra $10 you can share the data usage on your cell service. Says it is portable so might be an alternative to campground WiFi. Also requires purchase of WiFi modem for $49.95 and 2 year contract. Has anyone subscribed yet? And are you satisfied? Of course you also have to be in a 4G LTE area when using the service.

  • Sounds like the jet pack from Verizon,is this what you are referring to? I want to switch to millinecom when contract is up.
  • Must be a new product. Just looked at it. Reading the fine print, you MUST be in 4GLTE service for it to work. In addition you MUST subscribe to one of their share everything plans. So far from what i am reading and understanding you might be far better off with the basic home phone connect, and a mifi box. At least both of those items are currently free. But as others have said Millenicom is a far better deal. Sort of expensive up front costs but 20GB of data per month for 70 dollars is not too bad compared to what Verizon is soaking people.
  • Yes i have it and i am very satisfied with it. it is very compact and i have had great coverage wherever i go. had it for 2 years now and never one problem or issue. i highly recommend it
  • Home connect is not VIOP. It is a separate cellular service that replaces land line service and works with typical land line phones.
Yes, you would also have to have a Verizon shared data cellular plan which I do have. The way it sounds the home connect would then become an additional phone on that plan. If you did not already have Home connect the cost would be $30 per month. It is advertised as wifi or wired broadband service for multiple devices so it WOULD work with your home PC, Tablet etc.

I will look at Millinecom but I already have the Home Connect and this would just be an add on for me.

    OK your confusing me

Home connect is VOIP (voice over Internet Protocol)

AFAIK that $10 above the monthly fee ? would mean you could share the 'home connect' cellular data connection with your cell phone, when the cell phone is reach/contact zone/range of the home connect

it does NOT mean 'make internet connection' for home PC

I'd look into a no contract WiFi Hotspot from Millenicom:

    Millinecom

    They resell Verizon airtime.
