What sch911 says is true - if you're being notified that the updates are ready to install, they have already been downloaded. With Windows 10, you can designate your MiFi/hot-spot connection as "metered." This way, Windows 10 won't automatically download updates. We do that and wait until we're in a free wi-fi location to do all updates.
