Another Verizon Question....

Yep! I bit the bullet!

Yes. We never use very much of our time and it's
still very expensive. We bought a hotspot and went on vacation but it never charged. I took it back and said I didn't want it. Still got charged $35' for activation...but Verizon does have good service.

The answer is somewhat easy. Sacrifice one of the phone lines to the limited data plan. When you goto Verizon or Best Buy, do not upgrade your phone line. Upgrade a different line we'll call line 3. When line 3 is upgraded at the subsidized price, transfer the new phone to line 1. Then upgrade line 3 again and transfer the second new phone to line 2. Two new phones at the lower rate and maintain your unlimited data.

The providers are loaning you the price of the phone up front and you monthly service plan pays for the service plus the phone.

If your plan is that good, look for unlocked phones that can be programed to your number.

Use PDANet or FoxFi and don't worry about your phone data plan.

I thought you would still be using the data in your plan even if you use your laptop via PDANet/FoxFi??

I buy my phones from the aftermarket and keep my unlimited data.

EBay or Craigslist...I just "upgraded" from the IFail to the GalaxyIV and love the new phone, and kept my unlimited plan. Ask yourself if it's worth the $3-400 to keep the unlimited plan. That will buy you lots of extra gigs @ $15/mo...if you stream music or videos then you will want to keep the unlimited plan. If not, then I would consider going with their basic plan of 2-5 gigs and pay the extra $15 if you go over....look at your usage over the past year, do the math, then decide if you still need the unlimited....Dennis

We have 3 phones on our plan (and an air card)and all had the unlimited data package (except air card). We taled to the Verizon rep about changing to the family share plan, but was concerned about going over the limits, she took at look at our usage for several months back. We found that we weren't using more 1 gig combined. We changed to the family plan and it lowered our bill (can't remember how much right now but it made a big difference). Just a note we don't stream video's or music on our phones.
