Verizon jet pack , when updates arrive question

Do I have to leave my Verizon jet pack on when... I get ready to shut off computer and discover updates have arrived. Really dislike to do just one more project on computer before off to bed only...

the last mifi update took 2 minutes.

Windows and GPS map updates wait till have time to go to the public library.
I ask first. as they open in the A.M. most times they say OK... not busy.

map is 6gb.. so 1 hour. windows not to long. I catch up on some reading.
