Verizon jet pack , when updates arrive question

Do I have to leave my Verizon jet pack on when... I get ready to shut off computer and discover updates have arrived.

Really dislike to do just one more project on computer before off to bed only to find updates need to be installed, last night took 35 min.

    When I'm done I unplug my Jetpack or Sierra. Hasn't been a problem. Guess that is one thing the so called computer gurus haven't figured out in the real world. Especially with windows 10. The Sierra and Jetpack module is the only internet connection I have.

    Those updates can really eat into your data plan. I would not do them unless or until I could get home.
