Verizon Phone for texting.

I need some help here...

My wife wants to upgrade her old dumb Verizon flip phone for a newer phone that can be used for texting (and calls). Don't want a phone that has to have a data package, just calls and texting. But she does want a phone that has a regular keyboard, not the 9 key style.

We already have a Verizon Bionic with the data plan, but don't want to pay for two data plans.

I've looked at the Verizon website but I'm not finding what I'm looking for there.

Thanks in advance. Appreciate the help.

  • Just to update, bought the Samsung Briteside today. Thanks for the help.
  • Just switched from Verizon to Straight Talk @ Walmart. Still on Verizon network with data as well as texting. Had to buy $100 phone but only $48 per month - $96/month for wife's phone and mine. Cheaper than Verizo plan with only texting, and data/internet available when I need it. But there is a learning curve with a "smart" phone that can make you feel you have a "dumb" phone.
  • I have an LG I use it only for texting and calls.....simple. Costs me $35.00 a month ....but I'm chging to unlimited calls.. (texting is unlimited). It looks an awful lot like the pic above of the Samsung Brightside. I can't see it online.....I bought mine in the store. :)

    X2

This old Grandma finally has most of the bells & whistles of this phone conquered and am comfortable with it .. it did take me a couple/three weeks to learn this new phone.

Love the keyboard for texting ... although Fred Meyer had better prices on the stylus which I got due to arthritis of the right hand.
  • I have the PanTech, which looks pretty much like that Samsung above. It works fine -- like you I just want to make calls and text with a keyboard.

X2 -- my wife and 2 daughters have this phone and like it.....
  • They seem to have 3 Basic phones with slide out keypads. A Samsung, LG, and a Pantech.

FWIW we had a Samsung Evergreen on AT&T which looks very similar to the one offered by Verizon. POS.
