Verizon Unlimited Data

I have a 3g MiFi device now on a unlimited data plan. I am having a problem with it. I would like to purchase a 4g JetPack. Does anyone know if I can do this and keep my unlimited plan. I would be purchasing this from a source other that Verizon. Thanks

  • On phones, if you pay the full retail price instead of the subsidized price from Verizon, you can keep your old plan and just upgrade your phone. I'm not 100% positive, but I believe I've heard that you can replace an old phone with a different one purchased elsewhere(as long as it's a Verizon supported phone) and still keep your grandfathered plan. Actually, you can go online and do an MEID transfer yourself which transfers service from your old phone to your new one.

It would seem logical that you could do the same with a MiFi/Jetpack.

It's certainly worth a try. BTW, if you call and don't like the answer you get from Agent A, try calling again and talk to Agent B . . . you'll probably get a different answer!

The "catcher" might be upgrading from 3G to 4G.

I spoke to Verizon just yesterday and was told that at least for the monthly off-contracts, they have just gone to free WiFi! Fir their $45.00/mo plan they offer 500gb of free data, and for each additional $5.00 you get an additional 500gbs od data. So when My month is up end of March, I will opt for a $60.00 plan which will give me 2 gigs of data per month. I may be able to surf, play some games and maybe a movie to two... Two gigs is a fair amount of data, but this is a great move on Verizon's part. You can plug up to ten instruments free.

For $69.99 per month & a start up fee, you can get a no contract, 20GB per month plan using their hotspot from Millenicom, which runs on the Verizon network.
  • I believe that is 500MB of data, not 500GB. That's a 1000X difference.

  • I doubt very much that they will allow you to keep it. This will be especially true if you purchase one outside of Verizon. Situations like that are usually grandfathered in for as long as you have the original equipment. Doesn't hurt to ask, though.
