I've received an email from Verizon saying that as soon as they complete upgrading their service,my 4G Mifi that I have used and loved for years will then be able to get only 3G service. Sounds like a heck of an upgrade to downgrade my service. Anybody experienced this "upgrade"?

Sounds like a ploy to get you to buy new devices.FMCA has a $50/month unlimited deal. You get a hotspot for a penny. Although it's "unlimited", they throttle the rate above 25 g/month.

You may need to upgrade your payment.

I would ask them to be more specific, if it is only because your hardware will be outdated on their system, ask them to supply you with one that will work. If they don’t ask them at least give you a list of devices that will work on their “upgraded” system so you can make an informed decision on what to replace it with.

There have been huge improvements in the past couple of years in the technology, especially with built-in MiMo antennas in the MiFis. Be sure to get the latest one to more future proof your purchase.

It sounds like they are changing the broadcast spectrum for 4G and your MiFi is not capable of receiving that frequency. You might want to check on that. A new MiFi (maybe a trade-in?) would resolve that issue if that's the case.The FMCA plan is not an unlimited plan like other unlimited plans. It should be considered a 25 GB plan as the MiFi is Hard Throttled at 25 GB to 2G speeds or less.

Agreed..$5-10 a month for that and it ought to be an insult to offer 480p with all the devices running 1080p and 4K nowadays.
Here let me smack 'em (the company ..don't want to hurt anyones individual feelings) for insulting us.

We have been using a 4G mifi for years from Verizon. We did not get any notice.

We cut the cord (no satellite, cable or landline now) last summer, thus use 500GB+ a month now. We have Verizon's gUDP, one of AT&Ts "no throttle" unlimited hotspots (on their grandfathered Unlimited Plus plan) and two unlimited Mobley plans.

Why so many? AT&T came out with their $20 a month plans quite a while after I acquired the Verizon "Holy Grail" gUDP. $20 a month for unlimited with no throttling was just too good to pass up! All 3 of the AT&T lines are $20 a month. We can both stream on different TVs with no impact on the other and I have one in an iPad. It's comforting to have choices and backups. ;)

We are full timers and use it on 2 laptops, 2 Apple TV 4k running Sony Playstation Vue for streaming TV/DVR and have 2 tablets and 2 phones as well when they aren't running on LTE from their plan. Streaming TV/DVR is usually 10GB per hr. Adds up quickly but I have no throttling either as its a "grandfathered" plan.
