Years ago Big Red was the target of a class action suit regarding how slow their voicemail is. I believe it started over "You have reached an automated voice message system yada yada"
Claimants alleged those few seconds, which were billables, added up to millions of dollars.

Yup. My very first iPhone I had to pay for minutes/data used. It's not even alleged. It WAS done purposely to use minutes. and in my case it was minutes not seconds before you got to hear your call.
And after trying to listen to all my voice mails that took forever to get to hear each one with their yada, yada, yada before you got to the actual voicemail? Cost me quite a bit of money. So.......
My solution to that problem is that I do NOT activate voice mail on any of my phones'. Zip, zero voice mail box on my phone.
When you get a phone you have to physically 'activate' it. It's real simple DO NOT activate it!!
You got something to say to me, text. Cause you can't leave a voice mail message on my phone because there is no voice mail inbox. :C
