video advertisement before i can open a subscribed threads

Definitely malware. I've yet to see full video ads on rv.net in any way, shape, or form. It helps that I have "click to play" set on Chrome so that any browser add-ons don't start up unless explicitly clicked.

I was wondering if perhaps the reason it only happened for a few minutes is that norton 360 found it and removed it?

It's a virus. I picked it a few weeks ago on a company PC. The IT guru said that it's a full browser re-direct (at least with FF) which is how those pop-ups that slide in from the side get there. In my case it's watching items I'm looking at: LED's boat stuff, RC helicopter, etc. and in slides ads from all kinds of places.

malware bytes seems to hold it at bay, but if you look at the bottom of the page and goggle the name of the 'host' , you'll learn lots.

Norton AV won't necessarily find it as it's not likely a traditional virus. More like a browser hijack which requires specialize PUP tools.

Instead, try scanning and clean with the free AdwCleaner. Then follow up with the free version of Malwarebytes.

I had that problem and went through all the programs listed and found several "ad" programs that had been downloaded without my knowledge. I deleted them and problem solved.

No. Right now it appears to have stopped doing it.
