I'm dusting this post off to update! I had given up on trying to add video to my slide show of our trip this summer but snagged Cyberlink PowerDirector Ultimate 11 off of Amazon for $40! (Don't tell me I paid too much... I want to think I got a good deal. ;) )
I've been playing with it for a week or so now and am beginning to catch on. I think I'll manage to get the hang of it and be able to create a DVD. It is quite a bit like the old Windows Movie Maker that I had on my Vista laptop but has more animations & effects. Vids are easy to add and "split" to trim. There are several layers for the timeline so adding effects, animation & captions are easy enough. So far, it (or me) has been fairly intuitive but if I need help, I've been able to find it in the manual or online. So far so good!
The cam takes HD vid but I'm good with the DVD not in HD.
I reserve the right to change my mind about PowerDirector 11 but as of now, it's a 2 thumbs up from me. No freezes or crashes or other problems mentioned by many of the reviewers. I hope I didn't just jinx myself. :R
Thanks all for the advice and opinions on products. :C
