VIP211Z and older kingdome satillite antenna

I just picked up a VIP211z receiver and have an old Kingdome antenna and was wondering if I could the 211z use it with it.
The old Kingdome is the semi-automatic meaning that it screws around hunting 119 or 110 and maybe finds one or the other and then if it lands on 110 there is a switch to make it go to 119 and back to 110 if it lands on 119.
What I plan to do is get the KD to 119 and press the switch to go to 119 and land on 129 for the HD channels. I got on 129 before this way when I pressed the switch the wrong way.
I'm pressed for time before I make a trip and can't order a new Kingdome Relay and get it install in time.
Can I Use the 211z with the old KD or will I screw up the 211Z or the KD?

Thanks,
Skip

Oh Ya- the King Tailgater(Green Color) doesn't have enough gain to lock up the 211Z on 129 for HD.
Don't waste your money.
The 211z -in the house- works fine with the regular dish.
  • Yes- I found out last night it would work.
But- I was having the same problem with the motorhome mounted Kingdome is that the output of the the satellite 129 is low, and with these small dishs, the receiver won't lock on to most channels for high definition.
So I ordered a full size dish and ground mount.
  • Yes, you can use any 211 with your King Dome and you should not have any issues. I would recommend that you first get the receiver activated and running before trying to use the KD connection but once that's done and you get the Check Switch done (pick one satellite, usually 119) you should be fine. It will not toggle between the 3 satellites.
  • I have a 211K & a King Dome 9702. They work together properly for both SD & HD.

I can't see how you can harm either unit. At worst, you'ld have the dome searching without finding a sat until you stop it manually, or you might only lock onto 1 sat.

BUT, you'll probably need to run a new Check Switch after locking onto any of the sats, in order to find the others on the Western Arc.

(BTW, that's what I like about the 9702: I can program it for either Western or Eastern Arc.)
