VPN Problem

I'm attempting to set up a VPN. Every time I try to add a Incoming Connection in Network and sharing center it will not add the icon to my adapter settings list.

I'm going into:
Network and sharing center
Change adapter settings
clicking ALT key
Then file
Then add new incoming connection
I add the user
click through the internet
IP6 is the only box unchecked
and I allow access

No incoming icon gets added.

What am I missing?????????
  • I have a VPN at my house so I can connect to my home network from outside. This includes viewing my security cameras. I have a good quality ASUS router and setup an OpenVPN connection. When setting up this connection, you have to download a config file (config.ovpn) which includes all the information and the encryption keys to let you connect. You also have to set up a login on the router. When logged in, it is just like you are connected to your home network.
  • Install the free version of TeamViewer on both computers and call it done.

    TeamViewer.com
  • are you working on the home PC or the office PC

    home is outgoing
work will need to accept the incoming from your home PC

and that is about as much as i know about it

the office PC will need to be setup for file sharing

Incoming connection - you're trying to setup your computer to allow someone else to connect in from the Internet? Typically incoming connections are handled by a router or firewall, PC's should never be directly connected to the Internet.

    What Windows are you using?

Is this the page you're using?

Looks like a lot of steps, there may be an easier way, what are you trying to do?

    I'm using windows 7

I'd like to able to be at home and run a program (Quickbooks) on my home PC that uses a storage file on my PC at the office.
