They can detect PDA net. IF you want to teather you need to root and install a custom rom with the teatheringprovisioning.apk that has been hacked to allow teathering otherwise you run the risk of them detecting it.

Depends on the version of android and the carrier which version they detect you via PDA net.

So I gather they won't allow tethering. Wonder if you can access Netflix or Amazon videos and feed them to a big screen like I do with my Samsung.

they cancel your service and your phone #, i've been told you can't even port the number

with an android smart phone
you can do email and these forums and web browsing
you don't need to tether
small touch screen is not as convenient as a pc display and keyboard, but it works, i've done it lots

besides you can get a BT or usb tablet type keyboard to use with the phone

they can tell when the PC is accessing websites for viral updates or MS updates etc.. video streaming..so forth

better to get a hotspot device for PC wifi access to the web
