DirecTV has two rather clearly stated levels of support plans. One is the regular maintenance plan that entitles you to have a technician come to your location at no charge for any one of a number of reasons. It also ensures that your equipment will get replaced with no hassle and no charge.
Some people object that all DirecTV equipment is leased and, therefore, why should you pay extra for it to be replaced? I don't disagree with that, but the fact of the matter is that they charge $50 for a service call if you don't have the plan. I've had two different service calls in the past year so I'm "ahead" with respect to my payments.
The other level of protection plan is the "enhanced" plan which the OP accidentally signed up for. It is a "3rd-party" plan which pays for repairs for other equipment in your RV in addition to the DirecTV hardware, such as TV's, Blu-ray players, etc. This is really just a service contract and is no different from what you can buy through SquareTrade or other such companies. Personally, I have no interest in such plans.
