I think I read you can Download Win Media Player 11 to the W8 desktop, and set it as default for ALL media...this would bypass the W8 app that is causing the photo issue, I think.
I don't think I would advise setting Media Player as the default for ALL media but tried to get M44 to set the default photo app to something else besides the Win 8 default awhile back. There are lots of alternative photo viewing apps so why insist on using the one in Win 8 that you don't like?
I set the default on my Win 8 computer to the Windows Photo Viewer which does a nice job of letting me cycle thru my photos. If I need/want to edit one of them I can invoke IrfanView from within the Photo Viewer program.
Some of you all are not paying attention - I don't set this as default, I try to set my Word install as default, try to set another photo program as default. So, when I open my work, it allows me to do what I want - when I get an word doc or a photo, it won't let me copy it or use it, it defaults to the "new for sale" programs and won't let me do anything with any document that comes in though email, even when I copy it, save it, and try to open it. I can go through a lot of copy, change, and open it two or three times and convert it - but that's too much trouble each time.
Even if I learn this program, it still distorts my work - I like Wdw7, and don't want to learn another one.
oldman, what do you want me to call this, so you are smiling instead of frowning? I don't call it Win8, because it is not a winner! :)
