Web Cams

Is there an easy way to start a web cam and be able to access that cam while away from home?

Yes. I'm out of state as I write this post and I can check on my house via the internet any time.

You can get inexpensive webcams here that will do the same job as cameras costing much more. Their tech support will also help you set them up at a nominal cost if you need help.
  • We have just added an IP camera this past week to monitor our home. We researched many models through the internet websites and electronic stores. I read any and all reviews I could find and then made my decision on the dropcam. It has been in place for about a week and so far so good. They have two models available. Our choice was the Dropcam Pro. The set up went without a problem and we were on line in a flash. The HD picture quality is clear and concise and we enjoy the 2 way talk capabilities. It does all we need and more with our traveling to stay in visual connection with home.
  • I have D-Link cameras in/around the house. They are easy to setup and have remote access and smartphone apps.

I have the older cameras that works with the d-view software that will turn a computer into a DVR to record any movements for review. It now looks like they have made it plug and play with an appliance that will record up to 4 devices.

  • I am currently operating three Foscam IP cameras, two FI8910w's and one FI8905w. I have been using them for up to two years and have had no problems. They are relatively inexpensive to purchase (I purchased mine one at a time over a period of a couple months)and easy to set up. I use Ispy program on pc's and Kindle fire and icamviewer on my ipad/ipods to see them all. They have good support and many other surveillance products. The newest is a stand alone alarm clock with a built in camera that records on a media card. I am happy with mine but I am sure there are others that are just a good.
  • I have 5 Foscams that work well. There are two indoor pan/tilt/one mini/two outdoor-one being H264. The 264 is a far better picture quality. They are fairly inexpensive and have very good 24-7 free tech support if you buy from them. I just added Blue Iris software and am learning it now. A lot of nice features. Bought it from Foscam and get good help from their tech support.I have one of the indoor pan/tilt mounted upside down on the inside of the carport roof. The picture can be flipped with the controls. I can acces them with my laptop or my Kindle Fire HD when we are away from home in the MH via wifi/Cradlepoint travel router and Verizon through my old Motorola W755 flip phone. All of them have motion record. Get on their e-mail mailing list. They put a camera on sale almost every day.
