  • I use an app on my IPad called TopoProfiler. Does exactly what you want.
  • There is an iPhone app called InRoute that does that and allot more
  • Google Earth plugin API, was discontinued for Google Maps last year.
    Need GE specifically
  • I would love to be able to see elevation along a route. I've tried your instructions on Google maps on the web. I have a Mac computer. In Firefox, even though I have Google Earth plugin, I put maps in Satellite view and it says "3d earth view is not available". In Chrome, Earth view replaces Satellite view, but when I right-click on a route, "Show elevation" is not one of the options on the little pop-up menu.

    Any ideas??

(Sorry, I don't mean to hijack this thread.)
  • Create a route in Google Earth then right click on the route line and click on Show Elevation Map. Run your cursor across the elevation map that appears at the bottom of the screen to see the elevation and grade at any point along the route.

An internet connection is needed to use Google Earth.
