What happens when you reset a computer?

Gives you a choice of recent dates that you can choose from to restore the pc to operating state it was on on that date
A Microsoft factory reset, makes the pc blank like new from the store, it wipes it clean, I needed to do a restore two weeks ago,

Interesting...I just experienced a similar issue. I could click on a bookmark but no matter which one I clicked I'd get error message (I know I wrote that error message down but can't find it now). I tried several times to restart and other options to no avail.

I'm no Guru on a computer but I did "reset" this computer...it did eliminate programs that were added but retained all my bookmarks. Whatever a "reset" is,it tookabout 90 minutes to complete but all is working again. Seems to me it may have had something to do with Micro-soft Edge...that is how I opened access to the internet and that is where I experienced the error code now that I think about it.

Before resetting a computer, make sure you do a complete back up on an external harddrive. Then if you lose any data, programs etc. you can back them up.

To "restore" a computer, it goes back to the way it was when you bought the computer. You will lose all of the programs and files you put in since you bought it. Most likely you would want to "revert" you computer to a time before you had a problem. Depending on what computer you have, you can try to click on the round Microsoft icon in the lower left of your screen. Click help and support, then type either "revert" or "restore" in the ribbon. An explanation will appear, with options to take you to what you want to do.

if the problem is with ALL bookmarks well that’s one thing that MAY require the nuclear option but if a single bookmark is broken that requires a much less severe response.

- delete the bookmark(s) affected
- in your browser go to whatever website and re-save as a new bookmark
- consider getting and using a good anti-virus/anti-malware program.

sometimes it will clear itself if you restart

Well, hopefully he means rebooting but could certainly mean returning the OS to factory condition.

Not being able to go to bookmarks usually means in my world that he's gotten hijacked, being redirected somewhere else every time you try to click on something.

Before advice is given, what specifically do you mean by "resetting" your computer? How are you going to do it?
