I use RV Trip Wizard for trip planning & a Garmin 760 for day-to-day navigation.
As one that also still likes and uses S&T 2013, I can attest to the fact that the distance between destinations hasn't changed since it came out and the general routes still work fine for my planning needs. There's no subscription fees to worry about either. And yes, I'm as serious as a heart attack. To each his own. I'm very happy you've found a solution to your needs and I won't question why.
