What Satellite services are available

We are looking for something cheaper.
Presently, we are paying:
$116.00 for his and her dish network setup.
$85.00 to Windstream for house phone and Internet for Computer.
$72.00 for our two cell phones. 3G
$273.00 TOTAL
Question: Is there anything lower cost than that available with no Home wiring. Want it for home and RV.
BTW, we only use phones for talking----no texting, etc.
We can do without home phone but need some type of Internet wireless service.
We are probably stuck with DISH Network.
I'm not all that tech savvy so use the KISS rule (Keep It Simple Sam).

  • We switched to Playstation Vue about 6 months ago. Got the $35/mo package. This is a streaming service. Have Amazon FireSticks to receive the signal from our WiFi. Ordered another FireStick for the camper and will set up in a few weeks. We have unlimited data with Verizon.
  • You are paying Dish what I pay for a Hopper, Joey, and a Wally for the motorhome. Dish is easy - buy the smallest package that has the channels you want and get local channels. Stay away from the premium channels and you can reduce your costs.

Get rid of the house phone service and only get the internet package from your phone company (data is cheaper than cell phone data plans). Buy two smart phones and shop the cell phone companies for the best plans. BTW, Texting doesn't cost anything anymore and phone talk times are unlimited. Cell phone data plans are expensive but the companies are competing like crazy to get your business.

If you don't mind switching your sat TV and Mobile services, get DirecTV and AT&T bundles.
  • I just switched from $159/ month Comcast and $164 AT&T cell with 2 phones to $62 Dish and $165 AT&T saving $96/month. I added a Mobley unlimited data plan to my AT&T so I could drop my cell data to 6 gig. The Dish plan is for 2 Tv's and no DVR and is good for 2 years and they threw in HBO for The first year.

Every few years it occurs to me that prices have crept up and when I realized we were approaching $4000 for TV and phones it was time to look at things. I'm getting better internet, better TV, for less money, and I no longer need to deal with Comcast.

  • Satelite for TV.
    Verizon mifi for internet
The cheapest most basic verizon cell service.
If you dont really care for cell service everywhere, go with one of the pay as you go cell services.
Internet via a mifi card on either ATT or Verizon will depend on how much data you use for cost.
BTW, if you were to switch to Direct and ATT you can get some pretty good discoints on the package.
