Whats wrong with Windows 8.1?

I have read a lot of posts about Win 8.1.

Some say they will never touch it or they hate it or it sucks or any number of other complaints.

Then there are some that say they like Win 8.1 and think its great.

So I ask - What's wrong with Windows 8.1?

Now I'm not looking for things like I can't find anything - I don't know where this or that is, that is a user issue, not a Win 8.1 issue.

I'm wanting to know what is wrong with the OS itself, and WHY it is no good to some of you. If you simply can't figure out how to use it, thats called a learning curve. Like learning a new skill.

I just bought a brand new, really high end laptop. Cost me big bucks and it came with Win 8.1.

I launched it and wow, talk about different!

But I can't find anything! I don't know where this and that is like Win 7.
But I have only just begun this OS journey. I will figure it out and learn how it works!!

Not trying to open a can of worms here, just trying to find out what people hate about it! :B:B

So, what are the issues with the OS itself?

I am typing this on my aging old trusty laptop with XP Pro. And I know how to find everything!! :B
  • It's the "in between" version.. ;) Meaning, over the years when MS puts out a new OS, it seems that every other one is the one that gets popular and the in between ones tend to not be so popular..

There was Windows 95 which was popular and Windows 2000, but Windows Millennium, not so much.. Then XP, which was popular, then Vista, not so much... Windows 7, popular, Windows 8..???

I'm a system admin for a CPA firm and changing OS's on a bunch of accountants is not fun! ;)

I skipped Vista and rode XP until I finally did switch to 7. I'll probably stick with 7 for awhile too... Or at least until 8 gains popularity in the business world and the application software accepts it..

For home and personal use, I think 8 is fine, just as Vista is basically fine for home/personal use.

Besides, it's mostly about 'change' in general, and just another license to buy and toss the other in the trash, but MS likes that I'm sure! :)

So, is the next chapter in Bob's world going to involve the new computer?? :)
