Who's zooming who?

Hi, not a tech person, so I never post here. However, this may help another tech-handicapped person, as myself.
I have a new laptop and it was driving me crazy. While I was typing, it would zoom in and out by itself. The fix was to: Go to control panel, printing/other hardware, mouse ,pointer options, settings- find the pinch zoom, and disable it.
These are generic instructions and you may have to look around on your brand to find it. The most important thing is to disable 'pinch zoom'.
Yay, no more unwanted zooming!
  • Usually these type of things are because of the touchpad. A lot of newer computers have a switch just above the touchpad that turns it on and off.
  • a test If you care to try it

decrease the sensitivity of the touch pad

as it 'might' have been picking up vibrations from your typing

only thing i can think of , If you don't have a touch screen
the pinch zoom would have been connected with the touch pad
  • It is a Samsung laptop with Windows 8. I would be using the keyboard, (usually on RV.NET forum) and the Zoom would shrink or grow. No rhyme or reason, as it would happen when I was in the middle of a word.
However, disabling the pinch zoom has worked, (so far)!
  • pinch zoom is for 'touch screens'
that means a tablet with android or win 8

yes i've seen touch screen desktops
and yes there probably is a touch screen laptop

but i wonder why it would zoom while typing on a 'real keyboard'
unless the screen was being touched by 'flying fingers'

glad you found a fix for the weird problem
