Why are GPS units so much trouble.
I bought a Garmin Nuvi 5 or so years ago that worked most of the time,but occasionally went beserk.On our Christmas trip to South Carolina,it routed us one way going south and another way going north....

Check the options for what to "avoid".. You can set them to avoid HOV, TOLL, UNPAVED roads, etc... If you don't, it'll program the route based on that fact you WANT to go over those kinds of roads... :)
I found that out early on in my "GPS learning curve".. After a system update, it added the "Unpaved Roads" feature... Well, I didn't say to exclude them, so guess where it wanted to take me! ;)
I have since learned to REVIEW the route it wants to take you right after you program it and if it jives with what you think it's supposed to be, go with it!
Just don't go blindly where it wants to lead you without checking first!
