Why are GPS units so much trouble.
I bought a Garmin Nuvi 5 or so years ago that worked most of the time,but occasionally went beserk.On our Christmas trip to South Carolina,it routed us one way going south and another way going north....

A GPS is just a tool. It doesn't replace maps or good sense and planning. We love our Garmin Nuvi, but I always plan in advance and set way points. It hasn't let me down yet.
