I like to have my GPS mapping turned on sometimes with a "pretend" destination entered when just out wandering around my home territory in the pickup. It can be very informative.
I like to see how it handles things especially when it redirects me when I don't take a suggested route.
And I never ever take a suggested route when out on a trip without checking it out first to see if it makes sense.
There is a nearby road here that runs down into the desert from up in the mountains which some GPS units like to recommend. Problem is that it's a Jeep road. A high clearance Jeep road for experienced off roaders with a winch. Rock crawling. For Rubicon people. RVs would have difficulty with that route.
