Why bother sending a coupon if they are going to refuse it?

Its been a while since I had ordered anything or been in to a CW store. This week I got a sales catalog in the mail and on the back is a coupon that states: $25 Off any purchase, No minimum purcha...

Why is it I never have a problem with CW/GS regardless of where or what I am purchasing including the use of coupons? Luck?, I think not since it doesn't seem to carry over to other endeavors. The end user? I don't know. Most of these posts seem to involve purchases via the internet. Possibly a lack of working knowledge of how to navigate the system? It is a curious phenomena that has never plagued any purchase I made.
