In other threads folks have expressed their preference to stay with Win 7. For those that have had some time to use and learn Win 8, what features have caused you to stay with it as your OS? Particularly interested in what you think are BIG improvements over Win 7.

I Like Windows 8 been using it since the beta came out, There is a learning curve but it isn't bad I can do anything in 8 that i could do in 7 now with the preview 8.1 has a lot of changes for the best, free update will be out around the end of August is the rumor anyway.

Windows 8 makes several concessions to be more "tablet" friendly. These concessions are a new user interface that runs full screen only and has a series of tiles to manipulate. All Windows 8 apps run in full screen which kind of defeats the whole overlapping windows thing we've all come to know. It is better for touch screen tablets and PC's but for stand alone desktops it a real burden. You can still get to the old desktop but it's a pain. MS is issuing an update (8.1) later this year that will help a little by restoring the start button and allowing it to boot to the desktop. Too little too late IMHO....

Just wait a few more months for win or what ever they call it.

With 8.1, that single click will be eliminated.I don't care for Metro apps (there's no such thing as a Windows 8 app) because they want to run full screen and are very simplistic in nature so I continue to use the software in Win 8 that I used in XP and Win 7. Buy the latest Win platform if you are buying a new computer for personal use (business users may be tied into a particular platform). If you don't like Win8 (like I didn't at first) then install Classic Shell and it will feel like Win7 BUT you can play with Win8 at your leisure and when you are comfortable, switch over (or not).When you go looking for a new car you don't look for a 2010 model, you look for a 2013-2014 model. The same is true for your computer. Even Apple folks who want to claim that this is not an issue for them will have to admit that the current Apple OS is 10 or 11 (which started out as 1 and then 2 and then 3 and then 4......) Newer is "generally" better and there's nothing at all wrong with Win8.I guess what I am trying to say is that new is almost always different but that does not mean that it's bad.
