I have a consumer cellular flip phone $25/month with no data plan. When camping, I load time on my verizon prepaid hotspot. Very good coverage and I can load it for a week, month, or 2 months at a time. Very convenient and no recurring charges. As an example, 10 MB is $90 and good for 60 days. If I do that 3X year I'm out $270.
