When we use a printer with wireless between the PC and printer, does that signal between PC to printer with internal WIFI signals ... or, does it go from PC to personal ISP web server, then back to Pr...

Toshiba Satellite Laptop = Windows 7 ... maybe Vista and XP are similar.
I have no internal router, but that seems simpler than setting up each one separate. With a router, any internal equipment can connect between one another if wireless? Is that accurate?
Both my printers (new) say "Wireless" -- so, if I get a router, it will act as internal wifi system? And will read the signal from PC to Router, to printer?
