We won't be using it while traveling only when parked at the campsite.
As far as the antenna being directional I plan on mounting it on my batwing arm so it can be rotated from within the camper, many npeople have done this with good results.

Same here....mounted to the front tv antenna mount....raise it up and rotate to where the signal is. When moving....just lower it down.
