Wilson sleek

We are looking to get mifi service thru millenia. Also looking at the Wilson sleek per recommendations on this forum. It appears to be battery operated. A few question. Does the accessory kit for the sleek offered by Amazon make 110 volt or 12 volt via RV power point an option. It appears an external antenna can be hooked up to the sleek. Is this so? Can a 12 volt power source be hooked up to the mifi unit via a 110 source using an inverter if needed or can 12 volt be used directly? Thanks for all the help!
  • I use the Sleek 4G for Verizon. I have a Wilson Yagi and mast that really allows me to get data service where I otherwise could not. We had a particular problem getting data service at our lake cabin. With the Sleek and Yagi I am able to get 4G on my Samsung Galaxy.
  • Most Android Smartphones have a USB Wall wart 120v AC plug in. This easily powers the Sleek. The Sleek can also be powered from a laptop. However, laptop USB is usually low power. The Verizon 4g or AT&T 4g will also power all 3G cellphones.

120V AC power plug ins are about $5 on Amazon. Found an example for you.

George, I've used the Wilson Sleek for several years at the kids cabin. Added 3 bars to the signal. Just plug it into a 12v outlet and put the short antenna on the drivers side mirror. The Sleek was a little pricey, but well worth the cost. My smart phone has a WiFi hotspot so it is just placed in the Sleek cradle.

Here is the external antenna that I use with my Sleek:
    1 ea. Wilson 3-Way Omni Mount - 901104
    1 ea. Omni External Antenna - 301101
    1 ea. FME/Male to SMA/Male Adapter - 971119

Bought this from 3gstore.com. I bought an inverter at a local electronics place in TX for 120V to 12V for the Sleek's power supply. The MiFi from Millenicom.com came with a USB cable with a 120V inverter included. Last year at my seasonal site here in backwoods WV all I got was 3G service. This year I am getting 4G service and I have download speeds as high as 11.46Mb/s. HTH

Wow, thanks! And thanks to all who contributed. I now have a very good idea on what we need and will be getting it soon. Thanks again.

  • Make sure you get the correct model for your carrier. Millenicom's 4G/ 20GB service is on the Verizon network. There are 3G only Sleeks, Verizon 4G Sleeks, AT&T 4G Sleeks. The newest version (and most expensive) version has a switch that lets you switch between AT&T & Verizon.
  • When you order the Sleek it usually comes for auto with 12V power cord and magnetic antenna for atop the auto. To adapt for RV use, we purchased the additional power cord and the taller window mount antenna. Works great.
  • If your looking to connect to a mifi connector, I'd suggest you call wilson and ask them about the sleek vs mobile pro. mobile pro has a connector to allow direct connection to a phone/mobile card etc. if the device has port for external antenna.

Give wilson a call, they are extremely helpful on guiding you to appropriate solutions.
  • The Sleek comes with a 12V power adapter and, I believe, also with one for 120V. As the previous poster said, this information is on the Wilson website.

As for MiFi devices, I believe all of them can be powered via a USB connection; you would use one of the inexpensive 12V/USB adapters that seem to come with all phones and other stuff these days.
  • George,

You really need to go to Wilson Electronics site and read about the Sleek. First, they all need an external antenna and a 5.5VDC power supply. How you deal with that is completely up to you.

I've had a repeater in my coach for six years and it has been a good addition.

    Matt
