window 10 on laptop

Not that what I did starting in 1968 matters a bit, but since then I've not only used many operating systems, I've WRITTEN operating systems, compilers, drivers, interpreters, etc. etc. etc.

I know nothing about paid sponsors except to say that I'm not one.

I like W10.

January 14, 2020 support for Windows 7 SP1 ends.

Those that are new to PC's and have little to no prior use of Win XP or 7 tend to like 10 because its far better than 8. Those that have lots of experience with other OS's seem to prefer Win 7. Thank you -- and you're spot on. I'm a long time computer user -- used to teach computer. I'll admit some of this new stuff has me stumped, however, I WILL say that ANY new version of ANY program is suspect to me. I never download a new version until it's been proven for quite some time. And you're right about the "paid sponsors". I stand by my earlier comment....I'll be avoiding it. If anyone wants to listen to me, that's fine. If anyone wants to download it, that's fine, too. As you say, it's my opinion. As for those that have had good luck...WONDERFUL!

Keep in mind that FREE Win-10 updates for 7 and 8 users is only for 12 months after the 29 July release date! Also, Win-10 will likely go to a subscription update type service in a couple of years (still TBD). When that happens they will phase out support for Win-7 like they did Win-XP. By then we will just purchase a newer device that will have the latest Win-10 and should come with the subscription service with the purchase price (hopefully)!

Updated ours yesterday, so far it works fine no problems at all! Seems to some people any change is a catastrophe. It's a little different, but so far we like it better than the windows 7 we had! our lap top is pretty old, but don't remember if it's 5 or 6 years we've had it.

Just read this morning that Microsoft is saying 75 million devices are running Win 10.

I upgraded one of my computers to Win 10 and it runs fine, no issues but I'm in no rush to upgrade any of my other computers since Win 10 isn't significantly better than either Win 7 or Win 8.1.

W10 has been just fine on both laptops. Much better than 7 in my opinion and marginally better that 8.1. To the OP as others have said make sure you are current on all updates from both your manufacturer and Windows. Also the the group here have more info about your laptop so they can help you better. Make, memory, any add-on items?

We have been running Win-10 for 3 weeks and NO problems! Works great and so much better than Win-8.1 . It did take a long time to load and then there were additional updates, but in the end it was worth it. There are some defaults to change after loading for Wifi. We are Happy Campers!
