I've been hassling this too long - and when my tech-stupid self tries things that take a little tech knowledge, I almost always screw it up, well some of the time anyway, some are successful, this just ain't one of them - just because even something simple, I can't figure out what I missed. I know, I should and try learning stuff, but eventually I know when to toss up my hands.
Talked to a CPU store today, explained it - and for $80 he'll take out this HD, put in another equal size, and load the W7 on it, and check all drivers. That way, I have only to put the HD back in if I ever change my mind. I tackle a lot of things in my life, but technology simply flies past my brain.
All you guys were very helpful, and this issue goes back about six months - so, it's time to give up -- $80 is mini-pay to see the end. Besides, I really like W7, and know it well - we have three LT and one DT with w7 on it - makes everything the same. Thanks for all the advice ... happy camping you all.
For $80 you get Win 7 and a spare hard drive - go for it!
