Win 10 has been on two laptops at my house since it first came out. One had been on 8.1, the other still on 7. Both are doing great and I like 10 a little better than 8.1, but a lot better than 7. Others will disagree. I have been using Windows since 1.0 and have a lot of pain. I was in the software business for 20+ years and understand early release bugs and perhaps am more forgiving than some.
Win 10 takes just a few hours to get used to, find where they put things, and to set your preferences. If you have reservations about upgrading, then I'd wait a few more months for all the early updates to come out then go for it.
