I installed 64 bit Win 10 on an 8 year old HP laptop back on August 7th. The install took a couple of hours on this rather slow machine, but otherwise went OK. All my previously installed programs still work and there were no hardware issues. I haven't tried to print anything yet.
We had avoided buying anything with Win 8 and the laptop had been running Win 7, so I can only make a comparison between Win 7 and Win 10.
After a few weeks of Win 10 use, I still prefer Win 7, although I'm going to leave Win 10 on the laptop to see how things go. I have a Win 7 disk for the laptop, so I can always go back. I'm going to stay with Win 7 on my desktop gaming machine, at least until next year and possibly until the 2020 end of support date.
