This is sounding more like a political campaign than a technical discussion. When I was a know-it-all installing a Digital Equipment device in 1974, I was a bit offended by the large font notice saying that under no circumstances was one to adjust a unit that is working. There are times something needs to be fixed, but adding updates you don't need is just asking for new bugs. In the 41 years since being offended by that notice, one of the most valuable lessons I've learned is:
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
