This is 2015 and the "internet" is full of thousands of script kiddies/adults looking to punch holes in ALL operating systems both for fun and profit. You don't know what's broke so take the updates.
BTW all updates regarding drivers come from the hardware manufactures, blame them, not Microsoft.
