You don't know what's broke so take the updates.And I don't care what's broke if it's not interfering with what I need the system to do. If it's working the way I want it to, the last thing I want is new bugs being introduced. I've got 4 machines working the way I want them to: One with win7 (updates off) and 3 with XP (no updates obviously), with backups for each, and an occasional Malewarebytes scan. Zero viruses since I got rid of the anti-virus software a few years ago, quit running in administrator mode, and followed a few "safe surfing" rules. I've had exactly one disaster when the win 7 installation self destructed with a new graphics driver and I had to restore from a backup. We will just have to agree to disagree on this. After doing software R&D in the industry since before personal computers, windows, and the Internet existed I have a pretty high confidence level that I know which end is up. If I'm wrong I'll be paying the price.
