Windows 10 icon
I now have a small "windows" icon on my task bar telling me to reserve my copy of win 10. Does anyone know how to get rid of the damn icon short of accepting their download of the program? It is annoy...

Go to Control Panel/Notification Area Icons. Find the Windows box icon (listed under the program name GWX - Get Windows 10), and set it to either "Only show notifications" or "Hide icon and notifications".
That's the first thing I tried as well. Unfortunately, when you reboot, the notification is turned back on.
The easiest thing I've found to do if you don't want to see the icon or the notification is to rename the "C:\Windows\System32\GWX" folder. I renamed mine to "C:\Windows\System32\GWX_gwx" and no longer get the icon or notifications.
You can uninstall the update that installed the notifier app but then you also need to remember to hide that update or it will simply get reinstalled.
