Windows 10 Problem

Just purchased new laptop and 10 was no problem for about a month. Old laptop was vista. Now, about every few days, the windows icons do not work nor can I get on internet using edge or google icons. Able to use office 2010 icons at the bottom of screen. I have to right click the windows icon in the lower left corner of screen to restart to fix the problem temporarily. Anyone know what is going on? I didn't do a search because not sure exactly what to search for. I did not set up as a tablet. Thanks,

  • Yea I woke up one morning and Win-10 had tried to install its self on my lap top. The short story is I had to take it in for repair and it wiped out all of my programs and most of my data
  • When we first started deploying Windows 10 we had issues with the start button randomly not working. It came down to an issue with the AV software disabling the Windows Firewall. For whatever reason, when the built in Windows firewall service stopped the start button stopped working at the same time.
If you have any AV software installed check and see if it is doing any "firewall" work, and also check under services and make sure that the "windows firewall" service is running.
  • Make sure you haven't accidentally pressed the wireless key that turn on/off your wifi and bluetooth. Ask me how I know.
  • a 'restore' is not a reset
it does not change or delete any saved files
it does restore windows and any programs to the condition and settings at the time restore point was made

look under recovery to see if any 'restore points' exist

any programs installed after/since the restore point date

will be gone, when you do a restore, those will have to be installed again
  • Maybe a refresh if the restore point doesn't help? Don't do a "reset" until you get your data off, as it wipes everything.

I don't know how to tell to get there but you may need to RESTORE to last known good restore point... It will be in your system setups somewhere...

This will put you back before you received a virus or something...

This solved a problem I was having of recent time of losing my USB and AUDIO ports.
